When you’re faced with a difficult situation, there’s always a way out, there’s always opportunity to grow out of that situation and prosper into a new beginning. Be like the Tree that withstands the hardship and grows its roots within the rock that suffocates it. The Tree Found Life so that it can produce fruits so that you may prosper from it.

This is a group of old fashion recipes for cheese appetizers that are great as party food, finger-food pitch-ins, etc. Hot Cheese Balls, Baked Olive Cheese Balls, and Evan’s Pineapple Cheese Ball should all be added to your party foods file.

HOT CHEESE BALLS
This old recipe is from the community where I grew up in Southern Indiana.

2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup flour
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp paprika

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Grate cheese and bring to room temperature. Add butter, flour, salt, mustard, and paprika. Roll into balls the size of marbles. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Serve hot.

EVAN’S PINEAPPLE CHEESE BALL
This is an old Hoosier recipe.

2 8-oz pkgs cream cheese, softened
1 can crushed pineapple, drained
2 cups chopped pecans, divided
1/4 green onion, finely chopped, optional
2 tsp finely chopped onion
1/2 tsp garlic salt

Reserve one cup of the chopped pecans; set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine all the remaining ingredients. Use hands to mix well. Shape mixture into 2 balls. Rolls balls in the reserved pecans. Chill until serving time. May be store in the refrigerator for a few days if wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or tightly sealed in a zip-top plastic bag.

BAKED OLIVE CHEESE BALLS
This is another old recipe from my childhood.

1 cup cheddar cheese
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
dash of black pepper
25 medium pitted olives, well drained

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Drain the olives then lay out on paper towels to further dry.

In a mixing bowl cream together the cheddar cheese and the butter. When creamy, add the flour and black pepper; stir to blend well. Wrap a teaspoon of the cheese dough around each of the olives. Place on a baking sheet and bake in the hot oven for 15 minutes.

Enjoy!

Health and Fitness has now become one of the major concerns. Earlier humans used to hunt for their living, due to which their body had to undergo a lot of physical exercise. This made life active and alert. Now, life has become more simple and easy. Everything we need is just a phone call away. This easy life has restricted humans to do that bit of physical exercise which is required to keep the body fit and healthy. We get instant, spicy and variety of food which lose their nutrition during the process.

Eat more cold water fish with high content of fish oils. Eating oily fish like salmon, halibut, sardines (packed in mustard or tomato sauce, not oil), or tuna regularly may reduce the risk of asthma symptoms. Children who eat lots of amounts of whole grain products and fish seem to have a reduced risk of developing asthma. “The rise in the prevalence of asthma in western societies may be related to changed dietary habits. Studies of children have shown that asthma is less likely with increasing intake of “fruits, vegetables, whole grain products, and fish. Teens who don’t eat enough fruit and vegetables and omega-3 fatty acids are more likely to suffer from bronchitis, wheezing and asthma.

Adding fresh fruits and vegetables to the diet and decreasing both high-fat and high-sugar items also may be part of a process of natural asthma remedies. Controlling highly processed and chemical-laden foods may eliminate any simultaneously occurring food allergies that may be increasing the severity of your asthma conditions. Avoid foods that are made with white flour and try to choose whole grain alternatives. Whole-wheat pastas, breads and even dinner rolls are a wonderful alternative to the highly processed white breads usually consumed in Western diets.

Sources of vitamin E include vegetable oils like olive oil, canola and sunflower oil, margarine, wheat germ, nuts, sunflower seeds, leafy green vegetables, meat and fish. So eating salad before one meal every day is a habit to strive for not just for pregnant women, but for everyone.

A lack of Vitamin B6 has been found in many asthma sufferers.(1) This may be due to the fact that the medications in many asthma inhalers interfere with the absorption of B6 by the body. In mild to average cases, the addition of a B6 supplement to the diet appears to lessen the occurrence of asthma attacks.

Vitamin C in apples helps the immune system and helps protect against bleeding gums and bruising easily. There is also a benefit in preventing tooth decay, as apples have properties that can kill up to 80 per cent of bacteria, and here is a major benefit that most people don’t know about. Apples contain phytonutrients which are substances that can help prevent neurodegenerative brain diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Anyone who suffers from asthma should eat a healthy, whole-foods diet based on lean proteins, grains, fruits, and vegetables. Large amounts of saturated and animal fats should be avoided as should dairy products which tend to increase the production of mucus. Recent research suggests that Western diets may be linked to asthmatic and allergic reactions in children.3 Vegan and vegetarian diets have been tried as therapy for asthma and have shown benefit in some people, possibly due to the elimination of allergens and/or altered fatty acid metabolism.

Sunburn is an acute cutaneous inflammatory reaction that follows excessive exposure of the skin to ultraviolet radiation. Sunburn is literally a burn on your skin. It is a burn from ultraviolet radiation. The consequence of this burn is inflammation of the skin. Almost everyone has been sunburned or will become sunburned at some time. Anyone who visits a beach, goes fishing, works in the yard, or simply is out in the sun can get sunburn. Improper tanning bed use is also a source of sunburn. Sunburn can be life-threatening and is a leading cause of skin cancer. Sunburn can easily be prevented through the use of sunscreen, clothing, and by limiting solar exposure, especially during the middle of the day.

Sunburn normally only affects the outer most layer of our skin and in extreme and repeat prolonged sun exposure may result in secondary burns and blistering.

Ultraviolet light causes changes in the surface and in the deeper layers of the skin. It reduces the stretchiness of the skin and can cause premature aging and wrinkling of the skin, as well as the formation of age spots. Some other symptoms of sunburn are fever, chill, nausea, vomiting, rash, flu and skin loss.

Apply soothing lotions that contain aloe vera to sunburned areas. Topical steroids may also help with sunburn pain and swelling. Note: Do not use the cream on children younger than age 2 unless your doctor tells you to. Do not use in the rectal or vaginal area in children younger than age 12 unless your doctor tells you to.

Apply a moisturizing cream, aloe or 1 percent hydrocortisone cream to affected skin. A low-dose (0.5 percent to 1 percent) hydrocortisone cream may decrease pain and swelling, and speed up healing.

For mild sunburn, cool compresses with equal parts of milk and water may suffice. You may also use cold compresses with Burow solution. You can buy this at a drugstore. Dissolve 1 packet in 1 pint of water. Soak gauze or a soft clean cloth in it. Gently wring out the cloth and apply to the sunburned area for 15-20 minutes. Change or refresh the cloth and solution every 2-3 hours.

Melanin in our skin protects the skin from harmful ultra violet rays. But when the amount of exposure to ultra violet rays exceeds the ability of melanin to protect the skin, it results in sunburn. The skin is more exposed to scorching sun while working outdoors, swimming, skiing, and hiking and hence chances of sunburn increase. Certain factors like consumption of birth control pills and antibacterial agents used in soaps make our skin more prone to sunburn.

If you have to be outside during this hour, try to wear a hat, sunglasses that protect your eyes from UV rays, and clothing made of light colored, light weight, tightly woven material.

Lubricants such as petroleum jelly or butter may feel good but they actually cause the skin to retain heat and should not be applied on the first day. Products with benzocaine may provide temporary relief but can aggravate irritated skin and ultimately delay healing.

Vinegar on the sunburn dose wonders…the reason people say mustard is it is a lil easyier to keep mustard from driping… if you soak a rag in vinager and aply it to the sum burn this will work. Never put anything with oils on the burn, this will only make it worse.
