What can I substitute for dijon mustard in a recipe?

The recipe calls for 1 tbsp of dijon mustard. I don’t have any honey on hand.
i have regular mustard
the recipe is for pineapple chicken

Is Dijon mustard the same as spicy brown mustard?

I need to substitute one for the other in a chicken recipe, but I won’t if it’s not the same thing.

I want to try a new recipe that calls for Dijon Mustard, and I dont have money to go and buy it. My cabinet is filled with spices. Can I make Dijon mustard w/ regular yellow mustard?

Is honey mustard the same thing? bc i have that. I also have Spicey brown mustard.

I’ve never understood why Dijon mustard & yellow mustard are so different. I remember the first time I tried Dijon mustard; I thought I was eating paint thinner!! (Needless to say, I haven’t developed a taste for Dijon mustard yet.)
Thanks for the info so far. I was wondering what spice or ingredient in Dijon mustard causes the flavor difference. There’s almost a horseradish flavor to it, to me.
