Has anybody ever experienced rotten yellow mustard? Just opened a new jar and it reeked like eggs!?

Just opened a new jar and didn’t notice a smell. Then I put some in my mouth and it was really bitter. I smelled it and it smelled like rotten eggs! I’ve never heard of rotten mustard..has anybody? And how could a brand new mustard be rotten?
P.S. It’s not expired – good until July 2009 and I ate at little of it. Do you think I’ll get sick?
